NEWS & UPDATES

NEWS 08/30/11
Tampa Film Conference Countdown Continues

With the Tampa Film Showcase monthly film festival and professional networking event series now (tentatively) scheduled to debut in early 2014, and the Frontier Film Festival, which requires a one-year run of at least 12 Tampa Film Showcase film festival events before it premiers, slated to debut in early 2015, the Tampa Film Conference would debut in Spring 2015. We will keep you posted. In other news, Eventi Stage has been renamed Frontier Stage Productions.

Tampa Film Conference Countdown Continues

Just over three years until the debut of the Tampa Film Conference! This is seen as one of the final steps in the Tampa Bay Film plan to establish a strong Tampa indie film scene, and to begin working toward making the Tampa independent film industry a leader in indie film. When the Tampa Film Conference debuts, a lot will have happened. The first Tampa indie film community, which should be established in 2012, will be going strong. The Tampa Film Showcase monthly film festival and professional networking event series will be well into its second year. There will have been two Reverence film festival events, and our annual film festival will have debuted. Tampa Bay Film will be setting standards for indie film in Tampa, much as it is doing now. A lot of people can't wait!

To date, the Tampa Film Conference will be the first event of its kind in Tampa when it debuts (although a lot can happen in three years, and even if someone beats us to it, we'll still be the best event of our kind). Currently, the Tampa Film Conference is scheduled to debut in the spring of 2013. After the Tampa Film Conference debuts, the event series will be annual, occurring each spring.

Adjusted tentative schedule hints to debut date of Tampa Film Conference

The schedule published in December 2009 has been pushed back a year, due for the need of more infrastructure support work. The debut of the Tampa Film Conference is dependent upon a series of conditions being met, which includes the following tentative schedule. Before we can start the annual series of Tampa Film Conference events, we need the formation of the first film community in Tampa Bay, and it is ideal, also, that we have at least two Reverence film festival events, over 12 Tampa Film Showcase film festival events, and at least one of the large annual film festival events which the Tampa Film Showcase leads into every year. When these conditions are met, the door will open for the debut of the Tampa Film Conference, now tentatively scheduled for Spring 2013; the Tampa Film Conference will be an annual event for Tampa Bay and Florida indie filmmakers, and will have an event every Spring after the debut event.

Tampa Bay Film Project and Event Timeline

Tentative, and subject to change at any time, without warning. These are highlights of the work going on, and entire project workload is not limited to what is described.

2010
Tampa Bay Film produces a series of underground film festivals, which promote and lead into the larger, conventional film festival properties. One underground film festival series, the Tampa Bay Film Review, reviews indie films with a jury of indie film professionals.

Late 2010
Passinault produces first short indie film with new production standards demonstrated (although, once completed, the public will not see it until some time. One rule which Passinault has laid down is that his short films will have to debut at the Tampa Film Showcase, and then would immediately be shown on the Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival. With the Tampa Film Showcase debuting in early 2012, this means that Passinault will be stockpiling a portfolio of short films before anyone even see's the first one; the Tampa Film Showcase, or the Reverence film festival, would have to be in operation before the films could be shown on the online film festival. There is a good reason for this, and everyone is just going to have to wait).

Late 2010
Passinault produces second short indie film, a horror film named Reverence. Production of online television series, Frontier View, also begins by Passinault.

Early 2011
Passinault produces third short indie film.

Passinault hints on projected event debut timeline for the Tampa Film Conference

Tampa Film Conference and Tampa Bay Film director C. A. Passinault today hinted on what the planned debut of the Tampa could be. "We have to wait for the establishment of the first professional Tampa film community, and that will not occur until professional standards can be set for the Tampa indie film industry. After I create a series of short films to demonstrate what is possible, a few of the new Tampa Bay Film film festivals run, and filmmakers organize, the environment will be ideal for this type of event."
Passinault continued, "By our estimates, and looking at the schedule, we are looking at a possible debut of spring 2012, which is a lot better than the initial estimate of 2014. Obviously, this is over two years away at this point, and we don't want potential competitors studying what we have planned, so we will not publish any specific details until the debut of the event series nears. Right now, however, plans are far along, and we know exactly how the event will be organized, set up, and executed."
The Tampa Film Conference is an annual event series which will be held each spring after the tentative spring 2012 debut. The Tampa Film Conference is an event series by Tampa Bay Film and Eventi Events, tying into the film festival properties of Tampa Bay Film and Eventi Stage. The Tampa Film Conference is a business, marketing, and filmmaking conference for Tampa filmmakers, indie film enthusiasts, distributors, and anyone interested in independent film. Tampa Bay Film and the Tampa Film Conference have an agenda, and that agenda is to facilitate Tampa filmmakers with their work, and encourage the exchange of ideas, processes which are needed to make the Tampa Bay independent film scene a leader in the worldwide independent film industry. We are working toward enabling Tampa filmmakers to work together and to create their own Hollywood East, without Hollywood productions coming to the Tampa Bay area to produce movies here. In our opinion, Hollywood has no interest in helping Tampa filmmakers or to make the Tampa Bay market a Hollywood East, and if they were to do movies here in the Tampa Bay market, it would be unfair competition for Tampa indie filmmakers, as outside interests with deep pockets would compete with local filmmakers for limited resources.
